JP Robles BIO

JP Robles was born in Colombia, he moved to the United States at the age of 4.  He first grabbed a tennis racket  at age 5 and fell in love immediately. He quickly became one of the top Junior players in the state of Texas. JP was ranked top 5 in the 14’s, 16’s and 18’s.

JP attended Westbury Christian school and graduated high school at the age of 15. He pursued a professional career in tennis, playing ITF, Future and Challenger events all across the world. After suffering a shoulder injury, JP returned to the states and attended Texas A&M. JP decided to become a coach because he loves the game so much and wants to give back to the sport that gave him so much joy.

JP is currently coaching a 15 year-old female on the ITF tour and works with two junior players both ranked Top 5 in Texas for their age division.

JP has excellent experience coaching USTA league teams and is available for team practice clinics.

Philosophy

JP studies and uses the Boris Becker method. The Becker method consists of a balance between technical aspects of the sport (solidified through repetition), mental approaches and high intensity training. The Becker method also believes that tennis is played from the ground up; so there is a lot of emphasis on footwork and explosive/dynamic lower body agility.

JP also believes in making tennis fun and enjoyable for kids 10 and under. That way they fall in love with the game just like he  has and play for the rest of their lives.

When not playing or teaching tennis JP enjoys reading and meditation.
